As I’m sure many teachers will tell you, gaming has a serious side and it is fast becoming a widely used, popular and interactive way for children to learn in classrooms today.
If we were to go back 40 or even 50 years, playing a game in a school lesson was unheard of. With the introduction of technology and the development of computers, kids are up to speed with the latest gadgets from a very young age. It’s almost scary to see how brilliant kids are at using technology, and this means gaming has come into play in teaching (excuse the pun), but thankfully this has been in a positive way. Making notes straight from a textbook doesn’t work for many children and let’s be fair, it never did! Playing games and getting kids to engage with the teacher and other pupils has brilliant effects, but teachers do of course have to control the fun.
